There are peaks to climb, magnificent panoramic views to look for and fresh springs to refresh yourself in. Assaqutaq Trail

Combine a sailing tour with visiting a ghost village and hiking along the coast. After 30 minutes sailing, we will disembark on an island where the ghost village of Assaqutaq is located about 10 kilometres east of Sisimiut. Your guide will take you on a tour among the empty houses and tell you the story of the abandonned village and its people. We will walk the Assaqutaq bridge to come back to the main land and hike back towards Sisimiut.

The pyramid-like peak of Nasaasaaq is iconic to Sisimiut and its name translates to “little hat”. We will drive to the dog town and start the hike on an easy trail that gets gradually steeper. The narrow top is accessible through a steep ridge which is secured by ropes in two vertical sections. From the very top (784 m), you will enjoy an incredible 360-degree panoramic view of Sisimiut, ocean and the immense backcountry of the Qeqqata Municipality, filled with lakes, valleys, glaciers and mountains to the north and east.
Palasip Qaqqaa

If you love hiking and seeing the world from above, we particularly recommend the tour to Præstefjeldet (Palasip Qaqqaa ). This is a classic day hike to 544 meter tall peak, overlooking the whole city and the airport. We drive to the starting point, walk up a valley, then climb a few steeper hills before reaching a plateau leading to a small shelter. After a brief break, the trail once again climbs steeply up the side of the mountain until the top. We will have hot drinks and snacks at the top and enjoy the spectacular view, before heading back the same way.

Join us on this genuine arctic adventure in the wilderness. We will walk through the vast landscape to the UFO-resembling cabin where we sleep over. We will start this 12 km hike by walking from the dog town and head through a valley. Further north we will begin our ascent to the flat top of the hill and straight to the cabin. Inside we will prepare our dinner and have time to relax and take photos of the first fjord and the spectacular nature around us. After a night in a sleeping bag, we will prepare a good breakfast and make our way back to the city.
